Petition to Construct a Highway 412 Interchange at Rossland Road, Improve Safety on Lake Ridge Road, and Reduce Congestion on Highway 401

To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario: 

WHEREAS Durham Region has experienced significant growth around the areas of Highway 401 and Highway 412; 

WHEREAS congestion on Highway 401 has increased in recent years; 

WHEREAS the construction of a Highway 412 interchange at Rossland Road was previously approved in the Highway 407 East Environmental Assessment Study but subsequently deferred; 

WHEREAS numerous serious and sometimes fatal collisions have occurred on Lake Ridge Road, and a Highway 412 interchange at Rossland Rd would reduce the number of vehicles travelling on Lake Ridge Road; 

WHEREAS numerous bottlenecks on Highway 401 in Durham Region contribute to congestion and force drivers to rapidly slow down;

We, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows: 

1. To call on the Government of Ontario to construct a Highway 412 interchange at Rossland Road; and 

2. To call on the Government of Ontario to conduct a traffic study, eliminate bottlenecks and implement solutions that would improve traffic flow and reduce congestion on Highway 401 throughout Ajax and Durham Region.
